Postgraduate Conference 8th- 9th July

All postgraduates are invited to attend the Postgraduate Conference. The conference enables postgraduates at any stage of their PhD to meet and exchange ideas, advice and support.  Workshops will provide guidance on the various stages of the PhD process.  The evening reception and buffet will provide the opportunity to meet and network with other members of the academic community in an informal setting.

Researching in a risky society: methodological issues, problems and innovations

This year, the BSC Postgraduate Committee is trialling a paper led session, as part of the Postgraduate Conference.

The topic of risk is meaningful in contemporary criminological research in a variety of ways: not only have the topics of risk and security become increasingly salient in criminological research, but the concept of the ‘risk society’ also shapes what research is possible in an increasingly risk-conscious academic context. Many postgraduate researchers work at the forefront of this juncture and for that reason, we have chosen this topic as the theme for the first ever paper-led session at the Postgraduate Conference 2008.

The Postgraduate Paper Led session will be a panel session lasting one and a half hours and will feature three presentations on the above theme by postgraduate students.

This is an opportunity to discuss work in progress, dilemmas and debates in your ongoing research in a friendly and supportive environment, to get constructive feedback from your peers and a chance to engage in what we hope will be lively debate with other postgraduate criminologists.

If you would like to attend please complete the Postgraduate Conference section of the conference booking form
